Equine Assisted Psychotherapy (Age 3 - Adult)

The equine assisted psychotherapy (EAP) is a client focus and driven practice, where the client's subjective experience increases their own awareness and supports change in the here and now timeframe. It integrates trauma-informed practice, working with resourcing in the outer environment, regulating and soothing the nervous system, reprocessing trauma and renegotiating old behavioural patterns and feelings, exploring new types of relationship's and attachements.

Your investment:
$185/hour (GST free)

Horses live in the present moment, practising awareness and genuine contact within their herds. This can model important behaviours and skills for human health and wellbeing.

Horse wisdom program (Age 12 - Adult)

The EPI Horse Wisdom Program ® was created by the Equine Psychotherapy Institute and consists of 7 sessions.
Each session we will learn about and explore a topic, with the horses, such as:

  1. Regulation/The Calm State
  2. Awareness/Noticing
  3. Boundaries/Know your ‘Yes’ and ‘No’
  4. Healthy Relationships
  5. Kind/Helpful Thoughts/Thinking and Talking
  6. Feelings as Natural
  7. Facing Life’s Challenge

Your investment:
$110/individual session or $680 if fully paid in advance.

The horses feedback offers an exemplar bio-feedback opportunity for the clients to notice what they feel, heighten awareness in the here and now and find new and creative ways to support themselves.

Animal assisted therapy in the October 2024 NDIS Legislation changes

The NDIA body has clarified that “Animal therapies” will not be funded. However, as written in the FAQ section of the website, there is the following important note:
“Animal-assisted therapy can be a NDIS support – therapeutic support”
Animal-assisted therapy [which is not the same as “Animal therapy”] may use animals to play a role in a goal-directed, structured intervention which assist the therapist and the participant to engage in therapy and in a therapeutic counselling setting led by a professional mental health provider.
