From ME to WE
“We, meaning everyone who is present - including the horses, participants, and facilitators - are meeting to begin a journey together.”

It’s not about the activity

What to expect

The practitioner invites the client to explore and build their own resources, referring to inner and outer supports, grounding and body scan exercises. With the help of the horses presence, the client can: observe the horse/s, meet the horse/s at liberty, meet the horse/s inside the yard, touching, grooming, haltering, leading. The session can take place inside our nature-immersed pod, in the round yard or at liberty. We can involve Mia or Hannah or both, depending on the client's and horse’s needs.

Please note no horse riding experience is involved in the sessions.

Testimonies:

The rural garden and paddock setting was great to help remove the day to day, hustle and bustle which encompasses life these days. This environment assisted and enhanced the preliminary grounding and breath work conducted by Sara, with Camillo, the dog, wandering around, as one of, and a positive part of the “environment” in which it was conducted.
We then met the two horses in the yard. With introduction and handling instructions conducted we spent time brushing, patting, walking and connecting with the horses. Culminating with a return to the garden for the conclusion and debrief with Sara, and Camillo.
I found the session was informed, and was able to experience anticipated responses to the breath work; cognisant of our surroundings, and rousing of the senses. The introduction to the horses was a good starting point to being able to gain trust, and then to sharing time together, with mutual regard.
As a whole, I found this a very positive experience. And would encourage anyone considering therapy or a connection with nature to give it a go.

The Hunter Valley Children’s Therapies Team had the pleasure of Sara co-facilitating some of our children’s group programs during the July 2024 school holiday period.
Sara’s compassionate approach, combined with the gentle interaction with horses and humans alike helped some of our participants build confidence, emotional resilience, and a deeper sense of calm.
Sara creates a safe and supportive environment where children can learn, grow and be their authentic selves.
We were incredibly grateful to have her dedication and expertise on board!

Nadine, The Hunter Valley Children’s Therapies.
